Starting Infant or Primary School

Information for parents and carers of children starting school for the first time, and moving to reception class from a playgroup or nursery starting in autumn 2025.

For children born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021.
You can now apply for an infant or primary school place to start in autumn 2025. The application window opened on Monday 2 September 2024.

Please note: All school preferences submitted between 2 September and 15 January will be given equal consideration according to the schools’ admission criteria. School places will not be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Closing date – midnight on Wednesday 15 January 2025

All applications received after this date will be treated as late and will be dealt with after those received on-time and you are less likely to be offered a place at your preferred schools.

If you have an exceptional reason for applying late, and if the application is received before 4 March 2025, along with the evidence, we may consider it as if it was received on time.

You will be able to make a late application from Friday 17 January 2025.
